The Company

Our Client, established in 2011, operates within respite & residential care, both in mainstream and disability services. They pride themselves in the care and service they provide to their clients – including accommodation, qualified and dedicated staff, and local amenities.

Role Overview

This Client is currently seeking to appoint a Director of Services who will have responsibility for the operational requirements of the organisation and advising on its strategic direction.

The Director of Services reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Board of Management (BoM) ensuring continued high level of service delivery to their clients, implementing the strategies as agreed by the BoM, ensuring compliance with the regulations set by all governing bodies, and leading the team through a period of change

The successful candidate will ensure the CEO and BoM are kept up to date with relevant developments within the industry and organisation and, along with the CEO, ensure that the organisational strategy is communicated and implemented throughout the organisation. In addition, they will lead and manage the wider team, together with whom they will ensure the organisation, from both a micro and macro perspective, are running smoothly and will identify and adopt relevant continuous improvements methods warranting the continued success of the organisation into the future.


Key responsibilities

1. Implement agreed strategies, as directed.

2. Ensure appropriate governance, audits and controls are in place across all centres and achieved to a high standard.

3. Manage and control the budget, by way of revenue and cost ensuring they are achieved and strictly adhered to.

4. Ensure that all financial targets and KPI's are achieved within a framework of financial control.

5. Identify and implement cost improvements, processes and efficiencies across the organisation.

6. Identify future needs to facilitate future proofing and development of existing services through resource oversight, planning and management.

7. Lead and manage the management team.

8. Prepare and submit all tender documentation, as required.

9. Establish and maintain effective formal and informal links both internally and externally to the organisation.

Educational and Experience Requirements

Minimum of Level 8 in Applied Social Care, with an additional business qualification an advantage.

Minimum of 10 years management and leadership experience, the majority of which should be within the residential care sector with an excellent working knowledge of all relevant legislation, regulations and protocols.


Must have proven technical ability relevant to the role based on knowledge of, and as measured against, the applicable and current National Standards.

Demonstrable commercial acumen with significant experience in achieving results against tight budgets, delivering value and streamlining costs and process efficiencies.

Highly skilled at budget and resource planning and target achievement.

Previous experience of setting strategies and successfully delivering on agreed strategies.

A natural team player, with an ability to inspire and coach, the ideal candidate will also be comfortable with the candid conversations required for successful senior leadership positions.
